# Outcome-based delivery

> A way of working, not a technology. Before work starts we agree the outcome you need and how it will be measured, then plan the work around it and report against it.

Software projects often report on activity: tickets closed, hours spent, features shipped. None of that tells you whether the business got what it needed. We start from the other end. With you we agree the outcome the work must deliver, such as a process that runs faster or a sign-up flow that converts better, and how it will be measured. The plan is built around that outcome, and progress is reported against it, not against a task list. When the measure shows a feature is not moving the outcome, we say so and change the plan.

## What you get

- **An outcome in writing**: A short statement of the result the work must deliver, agreed by you and us before it starts.
- **A measure you trust**: The metric for that outcome, where its data comes from and how often it is read, set up before the first release.
- **A plan built backwards**: Work chosen and ordered by how directly it moves the agreed outcome.
- **Reports on results, not activity**: Regular updates that show whether the measure is moving, alongside what was built.
- **Early course corrections**: When work is not moving the measure, we raise it early and propose a change.

## How it works

1. **Agree the outcome**: We work out with you which result matters most and write it down in plain terms.
2. **Set the measure**: We choose the metric, find or build its data source, and record where it stands today.
3. **Plan around it**: We plan the work that should move the measure, the most direct route first.
4. **Deliver and report**: We build in stages and report each stage against the measure, not a task count.
5. **Review and adjust**: At agreed points we look at the measure together and change the plan if it is not moving.
